Shack Bay Brewing Stout – Dark, Bold and Born on the Bass Coast
Share
It started with a question: “Should we brew a Stout?”
It ended with us cracking open what might just be our richest, smoothest, and most fireside-worthy beer yet.
From day one, Shack Bay Brewing in Inverloch has been about listening to our mates, our community, and our tastebuds. After launching our Pale Ale, NZ Pilsner and Hazy IPA, the calls grew louder for something darker. Something bolder. Something perfect for Bass Coast nights by the fire. So, we brewed a Stout.
But not just any Stout.
We wanted a beer that felt coastal and comforting. Roasted malts bring a backbone of rich coffee and dark chocolate, layered with a subtle coastal smoothness. At 6.4% ABV, it’s strong enough to warm your cockles but still silky-smooth and easy to drink. The result? A beer that makes you want to pull up a chair and stay a while.
As with everything we do at Shack Bay Brewing, this Stout started small. We tested recipes on the home system, gathered plenty of “brutal” feedback from our mates, and fine-tuned until it was just right. Then we partnered with our friends at Ocean Reach Brewing in Cowes, scaling up the recipe without losing that homegrown character.
You won’t find this Stout everywhere… yet. We’ve launched it first through our Bass Coast stockists as a special early release. No direct public sales (for now), which means supply is limited and demand is high. But stay tuned — this dark beauty has legs, and we’re already working on making it a winter staple for Inverloch and beyond.
Dark, bold, and quietly confident. Just how we like it.
