Shack Bay Brewing Named Australia’s Best Nomad Brewery at the Australian International Beer Awards

Big news from the Shack Bay crew... we’re incredibly proud to announce that Shack Bay Brewing has been awarded Australia’s Best Nomad Brewery at the prestigious Australian International Beer Awards.

To top it off, all three beers we entered brought home medals:

• 🥇 Gold Medal – Pale Ale
• 🥈 Silver Medal – Hazy IPA
• 🥉 Bronze Medal – IPA

And honestly… we're a bit speechless

For a small independent brewery from Inverloch focused on doing a few beers really well, this recognition means the world to us.

A Huge Win for Inverloch

Shack Bay Brewing has always been about more than just beer. From day one, we’ve wanted to create something that reflects the laid-back lifestyle and strong community spirit of Inverloch and the Bass Coast.

What started as a passion project between mates has grown into a brewery backed by locals, supported by local venues, and shaped by the feedback of the community around us.

Winning Australia’s Best Nomad Brewery is something we’re incredibly proud of, not just for us, but for everyone who has supported Shack Bay along the way.

The Medal Winners

🥇 Pale Ale — Gold Medal

Our Pale Ale has become the beer that people most associate with Shack Bay Brewing. Built around balance and drinkability, it combines subtle tropical and citrus hop character with a smooth, easy-drinking finish.

To see it awarded a Gold Medal against some of the best breweries in the country is pretty surreal.

Even more exciting, our Pale Ale finished in the Top 5 out of 139 entries in its category.

🥈 Hazy IPA — Silver Medal

Our Hazy IPA picked up Silver thanks to its juicy tropical hop profile, soft mouthfeel, and smooth finish. Brewed with Nectaron and Citra hops, it’s become a favourite among locals and visitors alike.

🥉 IPA — Bronze Medal

Our IPA rounds out the trio with bold hop character, resinous pine, and citrus-driven flavour. A modern West Coast-inspired IPA designed for hop lovers while still staying balanced and approachable.
